Karen R. Keatley, MBA, CFA®, CFP®

Karen Keatley has extensive experience in investment management.  Her career began almost twenty years ago in the Economic Research Department at CSX Transportation.   After completing her MBA at Duke University at the Fuqua School of Business, she joined Prudential Insurance Company where she served as Vice President and managed part of a multi-billion dollar portfolio of fixed-income and private equity investments. 

Karen is somewhat unique among financial planners in that she has earned both the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and CFP® (Certified Financial Planner™) marks of distinction.  These two credentials are impressive in and of themselves.  However, when coupled with her Masters in Business Administration from a top business school like Duke, one realizes that the depth of her academic study combined with her investment experience enables her to provide an exceptional perspective and highly insightful advice for her clients.

Ms. Keatley has been quoted in Money Magazine, Kiplinger Personal Finance and MSN.com Money Central.  Ms. Keatley also contributed to a book, Just Give Me the Answer$: Expert Advisors Address Your Most Pressing Financial Questions (Dearborn Trade Press, April 2004).  This book, written by Sheryl Garrett with Marie Swift and The Garrett Planning Network, includes advice from over 100 fee-only financial planners (Keatley included) on a wide range of topics in an easy-to-read question and answer format.

An amateur singer, Karen has performed with Oratorio Singers of Charlotte and has served on the Boards of Directors for Oratorio Singers of Charlotte and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.  Karen lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband and two children.  She enjoys music, golf and spending time with her family.
